Ex-convict Aman Shukla murdered in Patna, SIT formed

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Patna, a convicted bank robber recently released from prison was brutally murdered in a public shooting. The victim, Aman Shukla (39), was shot multiple times near Vidyapuri Park on Monday evening while returning home with his family.

Brazen Attack in the Heart of the City

The attack occurred around 6 pm on Monday in a busy area. According to the police report filed at the Patrakar Nagar police station, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Shukla. His wife and their nine-year-old son, who were accompanying him after a visit to a therapy centre, witnessed the entire incident but managed to escape unharmed. Shukla was rushed for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered based on the statement of Shukla's wife, who provided a crucial eyewitness account. Senior police officials have assured swift action in the case.

Police Probe Multiple Angles, Form SIT

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to crack the case. The investigation is moving rapidly on several fronts.

"Valuable leads have emerged from his cellphone," revealed SSP Sharma. He added that multiple police teams are scrutinising over 80 CCTV footage clips from the area and conducting raids based on the information gathered.

The police are exploring a range of motives behind the cold-blooded murder. The primary angles under investigation include:

  • Old criminal rivalries and gang wars from Shukla's past.
  • Disputes over money linked to his previous crimes.
  • A possible love affair angle.
  • Potential involvement of family members, which has not been ruled out.

Patna SP (East) Parichay Kumar echoed this sentiment, telling media that the investigation is proceeding from all possible directions. "We are probing the case from multiple angles and will crack the case within a couple of days," he asserted.

A Notorious Criminal Past

The murder victim was no stranger to the law. Aman Shukla had a notorious criminal record and was a key accused in a major daylight bank robbery in 2020. He was convicted for the heist of Rs 52.33 lakh from the Punjab National Bank's Anisabad branch in Beur, Patna. Shukla had only been released from jail in May 2025, making his murder a significant case for the Patna Police.

The killing highlights the persistent challenges of crime and retribution in the region. The police's promise of a quick resolution and the formation of an SIT underscore the seriousness with which they are treating this high-profile murder. The city now waits to see if the assailants, currently unidentified, will be apprehended soon as promised.
