Tragic Accident Sparks Highway Blockade Protest

A devastating road accident claimed the lives of three family members on Sunday evening near Kayar crossing, triggering massive protests that temporarily shut down the crucial Ajmer-Nagaur national highway-89.

The horrific incident occurred when a truck traveling from the wrong direction collided head-on with a motorcycle carrying a family returning to their Kayar village home.

Family Wiped Out in Horrific Collision

According to police officials, the victims have been identified as Ramlal Jat, 34, his wife Kanta Devi, 31, and their 11-year-old son Mayank. The family was returning home on their motorcycle when tragedy struck.

A speeding truck coming from the wrong direction hit their motorcycle with tremendous force, killing all three family members on the spot. The impact was so severe that none of the victims survived the collision.

Gegal police station ASI Devkaran confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning his vehicle at the location. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the absconding driver.

Angry Residents Block National Highway

On Monday, enraged residents of Kayar village blocked the Ajmer-Nagaur national highway-89, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. The highway serves as a crucial link between Ajmer and Bikaner via Nagaur.

Protesters expressed their fury over the increasing number of heavy vehicles moving in the wrong direction on the highway, demanding immediate action from authorities to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Officers from Gegal police station rushed to the protest site and engaged in discussions with the villagers. Police assured the protesters of strict action in the case and registered a formal case against the fleeing truck driver.

Following the police assurances, the protesters lifted the blockade, allowing traffic movement to resume on the important national highway.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident. All three bodies were sent to JLN Hospital in Ajmer for postmortem examination as part of the standard legal procedure.

The case highlights the ongoing issue of traffic rule violations on Indian highways, particularly the dangerous practice of driving in the wrong direction, which has caused numerous fatal accidents across the country.

Local authorities have promised to increase vigilance and take strict action against vehicles violating traffic rules on NH-89 and other major highways in the region.
