A tragic incident in Faridabad has resulted in the death of a Class XII student, following a brutal assault by a group of five individuals last month. The victim, identified as Ravi, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, prompting police to upgrade the case to murder and arrest all the accused.
Neighbourhood Dispute Turns Deadly
The roots of this violent crime lie in a personal dispute between the deceased and one of the accused. According to Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal, the victim, Ravi, and a 21-year-old neighbour named Krishna were involved in frequent verbal altercations and often taunted each other.
This ongoing tension took a sinister turn when Krishna decided to involve his relatives and friends. He informed his cousin, Mohit alias Chaman (23), about the conflict, setting in motion the events that led to the fatal attack.
The Fatal Assault on December 30
On December 30, the plan was executed. Mohit met Krishna and was joined by three others: Nikhil (18), Ronit (18), and Vikas (22). The group of five then located Ravi while he was sitting near a water plant in Sanjay Colony.
In a coordinated attack, they assaulted the young student with sticks. The severe beating left Ravi with critical injuries. He fought for his life for several days before tragically succumbing to his injuries on Sunday.
Swift Police Action and Arrests
Following the student's death, the Faridabad Police acted promptly. A day after adding murder charges to the initial case, the Sector 56 crime branch arrested all five accused on Monday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Krishna (21) from Sanjay Colony
- Mohit alias Chaman (23) from Press Colony
- Vikas (22) from Press Colony
- Nikhil (18) from Jawahar Colony, Faridabad
- Ronit (18) from Jawahar Colony, Faridabad
Ravi was a student at a private school in the area. The police investigation is ongoing to uncover further details about the assault and the precise sequence of events.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Faridabad, highlighting the devastating consequences of unresolved personal conflicts and mob violence. The swift upgrade of charges to murder reflects the seriousness with which authorities are treating this case of a young life cut short.
