A fatal road accident on the National Highway near Hosur claimed one life and left two others injured on Friday night. The collision involved an omni bus and a tempo, leading to significant traffic disruption.

Details of the Tragic Collision

The accident occurred at Attakuriki, near Hosur in Krishnagiri district. According to the Shoolagiri police, the incident happened when a tempo was negotiating a curve on the highway while heading towards Hosur. An omni bus, traveling from Puducherry to Bengaluru with over 20 passengers, suddenly crashed into the tempo. The impact was severe, causing both vehicles to overturn on the road.

Victims and Immediate Aftermath

The deceased has been identified as M Sudhakar, a 25-year-old from Otterpalayam village who was working as a cleaner for the tempo. He was seated in the co-driver's seat alongside a load of vegetables and died on the spot due to the injuries sustained.

The injured include the tempo driver, V Nagesh, 25, a resident of Attakurikki. Another victim was Navzad Alam, 30, a biker who was attempting to cross the road at the time of the accident and was tragically trapped under the overturned bus. Both injured individuals were rushed to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Traffic Snarl and Police Action

The crash caused a major traffic standstill on the busy National Highway stretch. Vehicles were at a halt for more than an hour as emergency services worked at the site. The Shoolagiri police, with the aid of a crane, managed to remove the wrecked omni bus and tempo from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow. The police have registered a case and an investigation into the exact cause of the accident is currently underway.
