Five Detained in Bhilwara for Fatal Beating Over Theft Suspicion
Police in Bhilwara detained five people on Wednesday. They are accused of beating a man to death in Chittorgarh. The victim was suspected of theft.
Victim Identified as Shankar Singh
The deceased has been identified as Shankar Singh. He was a resident of Mangrop village in Bhilwara district. Shankar worked at a tyre company shop in Bhilwara Transport Nagar.
Family Alleges Brutal Incident at Hotel
Family members stated that Shankar went to eat at Mahadev Hotel in Gangrar, Chittorgarh district. There, he was allegedly beaten by individuals who suspected him of theft. They claim that when Shankar collapsed unconscious, the family received a phone call. They were told to bring Rs 38,000 to take him away.
Upon reaching the location, family members found Shankar unconscious. They immediately brought him to Bhilwara district hospital. Doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Villagers Protest Demanding Justice
Villagers gathered outside the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara. They staged a protest and took out a rally from the mortuary to the Bhilwara Collectorate. Their demands included compensation of Rs 50 lakh and employment for the next of kin of the deceased.
Bhilwara collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu addressed the protesters. He assured them of appropriate action in the matter. Following this assurance, the villagers agreed to allow the post-mortem to proceed.
Police Investigation Underway
Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi provided details of the police response. He confirmed that several teams were formed to investigate the case. Five people have been detained in connection with the incident. Additionally, four youths working as waiters at the hotel are being questioned by authorities.
The investigation continues as police work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding Shankar Singh's death.
