A tragic road accident near Walajabad in Tamil Nadu claimed the life of a four-year-old girl and left her nine-month-old sister and parents seriously injured on Sunday night.
Details of the Incident
According to police, Loganathan, 40, a resident of Pillaiyarpalayam in Kancheepuram, was riding a motorcycle with his wife Mahalakshmi, 38, and their daughters — Samyuktha, 4, and an infant. The family was en route to the Vallakottai Murugan temple.
At Muthialpet junction, a four-wheeler displaying a government sticker, traveling from Walajabad towards Kancheepuram, collided head-on with their motorcycle. The impact caused severe injuries to all family members. Loganathan and Mahalakshmi sustained fractures in their legs.
Medical Response and Fatality
Samyuktha was found unconscious at the scene. Nearby residents rushed the family to Kancheepuram Government Hospital. After receiving first aid, all victims were referred to a government hospital in Chennai.
The children were admitted to the Government Children's Hospital in Egmore, where they received treatment. However, Samyuktha succumbed to her injuries on Monday morning.
Police Investigation
Walajabad police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving. Authorities are investigating whether the driver of the government vehicle had dozed off at the wheel.
