A 45-year-old man, wanted for multiple thefts and cattle slaughter, was arrested in Mangaluru after being on the run for eight years. The accused, identified as Ravi, was apprehended by the Mangaluru police from a hideout in the city on Tuesday.

Details of the Case

According to police, Ravi was involved in several theft cases and also in the slaughter of cattle, which is banned in Karnataka. He had been evading arrest since 2016, when a case was registered against him at the Mangaluru rural police station.

During the eight-year period, Ravi changed his appearance and moved frequently to avoid detection. He was finally traced after a tip-off from a local informant. Police laid a trap and arrested him near a bus stand.

Legal Proceedings

The accused has been produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigations are underway to ascertain his involvement in other crimes.
