Ghaziabad Police Recover Body of Elderly Man from Raj Nagar Extension Flat
Ghaziabad police made a grim discovery on Sunday. They recovered the body of a 69-year-old man from a flat in the Brave Hearts society located in Raj Nagar Extension. Initial investigation strongly suggests the man may have succumbed to a heart attack nearly two weeks ago.
Neighbors and Family Raise Alarm
According to neighbors, Deepak Kumar Handu was last seen on the evening of December 30. His sister, Beena, who lives in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, grew worried after being unable to reach him for several days. She visited the society on Sunday to check on him.
The door to his flat was locked from the inside. Handu did not respond despite repeated ringing of the doorbell. Beena immediately called the police for assistance.
Police Break Open Door to Find Body
Responding to the call, police officers arrived at the scene. With help from concerned neighbors, they broke the door open. Inside, they found Deepak Kumar Handu dead in the flat.
Handu, originally from Kashmir, was unmarried and lived alone. He worked at a banquet hall in the Sahibabad area. His colleagues told police they had also tried contacting him without success. Some coworkers had even visited his flat earlier but left when no one answered the door.
Investigation Points to December 30 Incident
Police investigation revealed key details about Handu's last known activities. His mobile phone was ringing until January 4. He was last active on the messaging app WhatsApp on December 30.
Based on this evidence, police suspect he suffered a fatal heart attack on the night of December 30. He likely remained undiscovered in the flat for about two weeks.
Autopsy and CCTV Checks Underway
"We sent the body for an autopsy, and reports are awaited," said ACP (Nandgram) Upasana Pandey. "We are also checking the CCTV cameras of the society." She confirmed that the investigation is still actively underway.
The case highlights the tragic circumstances of an elderly man living alone. Police continue to piece together the final moments before his death.
