A devastating house fire in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district claimed the life of a two-year-old visually impaired girl on Wednesday morning. The incident, caused by a suspected electrical short circuit, has left the family and local community in deep mourning.
Morning of Tragedy in Bhawanipura Village
The victim, identified as Sanya, was the only daughter of Aditya Kumar and Anshu. The family's routine morning took a horrific turn. Aditya Kumar had left for his workplace at a gas agency in Babarpur district, Auraiya. Meanwhile, his wife Anshu was engaged in making dung cakes on the roof of their house in Bhawanipura village.
Their young daughter, Sanya, was inside a room of the house at the time. When Anshu came down from the roof, she was met with a scene of horror—flames engulfing part of their home. She immediately raised an alarm to alert neighbours.
Neighbours' Brave Efforts and Police Response
Hearing the cries for help, neighbours rushed to the house and made valiant attempts to douse the fire by pouring water. Their collective effort helped control the blaze. However, the rescue came too late for little Sanya. She was found dead inside the room.
Local police authorities swiftly responded to the emergency. Station House Officer of Bakewar, Vipin Malik, and Chowki Incharge of Mahewa, Nirmal Chandra, reached the spot with a police force. Administrative officials, including Tehsildar of Bharthana, Dilip Kumar, and Lekhpal Rahul Goyal, also arrived at the scene.
Investigation Points to Electrical Fault
The police have initiated an investigation into the exact cause of the fire. Speaking on the preliminary findings, SO Vipin Malik stated that prima facie, an electrical short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the deadly fire. The body of the child was sent for a postmortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death as part of the standard procedure.
The incident highlights the ever-present danger of electrical faults in households, especially in areas where wiring safety may be overlooked. It serves as a tragic reminder of the vulnerability of young children and the importance of constant vigilance.
