A young professional in Ahmedabad has filed a formal police complaint against a well-known Gujarati singer, accusing him of sexual harassment and issuing threats. The incident occurred on a Saturday evening in the upscale SG Road area, casting a shadow over the city's nightlife scene.
Details of the Disturbing Evening
The complainant, a 29-year-old woman who works as a digital marketing professional and a physiotherapist, was out for dinner with her husband and other family members on December 29. After their meal, the group proceeded to a popular rooftop cafe located near a hotel on SG Road.
As they parked their vehicle on the pavement outside the cafe and the woman stepped out, the accused, identified as a singer known to the family through professional connections, approached from behind. He allegedly made a sexually coloured remark directed at her. Initially, the woman thought the comment was meant for someone else and continued walking.
The Confrontation and Threats
The situation escalated when the singer reportedly called one of the woman's relatives aside. He then made another objectionable statement, this time explicitly referring to the woman in a sexual manner. This act triggered a heated argument between the accused and the woman's relatives.
When the woman's husband stepped in to intervene, the singer's behaviour turned more aggressive. He is accused of using obscene language and issuing direct threats to the family before finally leaving the spot.
Police Action and Charges Filed
Following the traumatic event, the victim approached the Vastrapur police station to lodge a formal First Information Report (FIR). The police have registered a case based on her complaint.
The accused singer now faces serious charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR includes allegations of sexual harassment, use of obscene language, and criminal intimidation. An investigation into the matter is currently underway as authorities gather evidence and statements.
