Foundation Stone Sparks Controversy in Focal Point

Tensions have erupted in Phase VIII, Focal Point, Ludhiana, after local industrialists alleged that the foundation stone for a gurdwara was laid on land officially marked as a 45-foot road. The industrialists claim the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) map clearly designates the plot between C-215 and C-216 as a road, not an allotted plot.

MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian laid the foundation stone on Saturday, prompting immediate backlash from industrialists who say the move could severely disrupt access and movement in the industrial area.

Industrialists Reject Claims of Allotment Papers

Rahul Ahuja, an industrialist from the area, stated, “They are wrongly claiming to have allotment papers from PSIEC. It is false. No such papers have been shown.” Another industrialist argued that closing the road would hinder daily operations, adding, “The map itself says it is a road and not an allotted plot.”

The industrialists have demanded that the authorities verify the land records and stop construction until the dispute is resolved.

MLA Mundian Assures Intervention

Later in the day, a delegation of industrialists met with MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian. He assured them he would arrange a meeting with Industries Minister Aman Arora on Sunday to address the issue. “I will take up the matter with the minister concerned to find a fair resolution,” Mundian said.

The dispute highlights ongoing challenges in industrial areas where land use conflicts arise between community projects and infrastructure planning.
