Gurugram Police Bust Burglary Gang Linked to 69 Cases

The Gurugram police have dismantled an organised burglary gang, arresting seven individuals who are collectively linked to 69 criminal cases across Delhi and Haryana. The gang specialised in breaking shop shutters and locks to steal cash and valuables.

Medical Store Theft Leads to Breakthrough

The investigation began after a medical store owner filed a complaint at the Farrukhnagar police station on June 25. He reported that unidentified persons broke open the shutter of his shop on Wazirpur Road near Sultanpur Mor during the night of June 24 and stole approximately Rs 20,000 from the cash counter. A case was registered, and a police team launched an investigation.

On Sunday, the Crime Branch team at Farrukhnagar arrested the seven accused from Khera Jhajharola village. The suspects were identified as Tarul of Sultanpuri, Sonu of Shahbad Daulatpur, Merajul Diwan of Bawana, Sanjeet (alias Kali) of Shahbad Dairy, Mandeep (alias Scooty) of Shahbad Daulatpur, Prahlad Kumar (alias Raj Kumar) of Sector 26, Rohini, and Sagar (alias Suraj) of Sector 26, Rohini — all residents of Delhi.

Habitual Offenders with Extensive Criminal Records

During interrogation, police discovered that the accused are members of an organised burglary gang and are habitual offenders. They reportedly surveyed houses and shops to ensure they were unoccupied before breaking locks or shutters at night and stealing cash and valuables. In the medical store case, they had surveyed the shop before executing the theft.

“The arrested accused also confessed to five other thefts in Gurugram district and one in Delhi,” said a senior police officer. Verification of their criminal records revealed that Tarul has 15 previous cases of theft, housebreaking, robbery, and Arms Act offences; Mandeep has seven cases of theft and housebreaking; Prahlad has two Arms Act cases; and Sagar has 45 previous cases, including theft, housebreaking, robbery, and Arms Act offences, registered in Delhi.

Ongoing Investigation and Recovery Efforts

Police are questioning the accused to uncover more details about their operations and to identify other gang members. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen cash and other property. “We are questioning the accused. The arrests mark a significant step in curbing organised burglary in the region, with the gang's total criminal footprint spanning 69 cases across multiple jurisdictions.
