A 57-year-old gym owner sustained severe injuries after being stabbed by one of four men who forcibly entered his residence in Ghatlodia shortly after midnight on Wednesday. The victim's 53-year-old wife, employed with a pharmaceutical firm in Changodar, lodged a complaint with Ghatlodia police, alleging that the group barged into their home, demanded money, and attacked her husband.
Incident Details
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred around 12:15 am at the family's residence in Memnagar. Present at the time were the couple and their 16-year-old son, who had just returned from playing badminton in the society. When someone knocked on the door, the son opened it, allowing a man known to the family to enter along with three others.
The FIR states that the group questioned the family about an earlier complaint filed against them. They claimed to have incurred expenses of Rs 2.6 lakh due to that complaint and demanded Rs 4.6 lakh, including interest. The complainant reported that the men argued aggressively and used abusive language. She asked them to leave and return the next day, but the situation escalated.
Attack and Aftermath
During the exchange, one of the men brandished a knife. After the complainant pleaded with them to spare her family, the knife was briefly put away. However, the accused continued to hurl abuses at her husband and their minor son. When the husband objected, another man allegedly seized the knife and stabbed him in the abdomen, causing his intestines to protrude. The victim began bleeding profusely, and the family screamed for help.
To avoid confrontation with neighbors rushing to the scene, the four men fled. The injured man was rushed to a private hospital in Bodakdev, where he is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
Legal Action
The complaint further reveals that the accused had previously approached the couple's son and demanded money, claiming he owed them. Ghatlodia police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempted murder, trespass, extortion, and criminal intimidation against the four individuals. Investigations are ongoing.
