Immigration Fraud in Ludhiana: Documents Misused for GST Registration

A shocking case of immigration fraud has emerged in Ludhiana, where an immigration centre allegedly misused the identity documents of a 21-year-old youth aspiring to study abroad. The suspects fraudulently obtained a GST number in the victim's name for a firm called Preet Traders in Mandi Gobindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib district. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Victim's Father Files Complaint

The complainant, Balbir Singh, a resident of Kathgarh village in Jalalabad, told the police that his son Jaspreet Singh (21) wanted to go abroad for studies. After gathering information about Smart Study Immigration Centre located in Nehru Nagar, Model Town, Ludhiana, he applied for his son's study visa at the centre. The suspect, identified as Rohan, assured them that the centre provides the best immigration services.

However, on the pretext of sending Jaspreet abroad, the suspect misused his documents. Without Jaspreet's knowledge or permission, Rohan used his PAN card to obtain a GST number in the name of Preet Traders in Mandi Gobindgarh. The fraud came to light when Balbir Singh discovered the unauthorised registration and subsequently lodged a complaint with the police.
