Indore Traffic Constable Dies by Suicide, No Note Found

A 29-year-old traffic constable allegedly died by suicide at his residence in the Malharganj police station area of Indore. The incident came to light on Saturday morning.

Details of the Incident

According to Additional DCP Sumit Kerkatta, the constable, identified as Ankit Tomar, lived on the first floor of the police quarters. A search of his room by the forensic science laboratory team and senior officials yielded no suicide note, leaving the motive for the extreme step unclear.

Tomar, a native of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, was currently posted in the clerical section of the ACP Traffic (East) office.

Shock Among Colleagues

The incident shocked his colleagues as Tomar had recently been selected for Delhi Police and was expected to join his new posting within the next three to four months. Preliminary reports suggest that he returned from duty around 10 pm on Friday night, after which the incident occurred.

Investigation Underway

The body has been sent to the district hospital for a postmortem examination. Tomar's uncle, who also resides in Indore, reached the hospital following the news. Police are currently recording statements of his colleagues and family members to ascertain if there was any professional or personal pressure that led to the tragedy.
