In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Jaipur city police's crime branch has apprehended an alleged drug trafficker and confiscated a substantial quantity of smack valued at approximately Rs 17 lakh. The intelligence-based operation was carried out in the Ashok Nagar area.
Intelligence Trap Leads to Arrest
Acting on precise inputs from its intelligence unit about a supplier's movement, the crime branch laid a discreet trap in Ashok Nagar. On Saturday night, the police team intercepted the accused, identified as Ravi Kushwah (23), just as he arrived with a fresh consignment of narcotics. He was swiftly taken into custody following a search that led to the recovery of the drugs from his possession.
Profile of the Accused and Modus Operandi
Police revealed that Kushwah is a native of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh and had been residing in a slum settlement in the Bhojpura area of Ashok Nagar. Investigators stated that he had been involved in drug trafficking for a prolonged period, operating from this locality. The seized contraband, weighing 85 grams of smack, was estimated to be worth around Rs 17 lakh in the international market.
According to officials, the accused sourced the narcotics from outside Rajasthan and strategically used residential clusters and slum areas to avoid detection while engaging in trafficking activities.
Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps
Following the arrest, Ravi Kushwah was handed over to the Ashok Nagar police station for detailed interrogation. Investigators are now questioning him intensively to achieve multiple objectives:
- Trace the complete supply chain of the narcotics.
- Identify the network of buyers in the city.
- Map possible links to a larger, organized drug network.
Police added that the accused's movements, his contacts, and financial trails are under rigorous scrutiny to unravel the full extent of the operation. This seizure marks a crucial success for the Jaipur police in their ongoing efforts to combat the drug trade in the city.
