Violent Clash Erupts Between Inmates at Jaipur Central Jail

A serious altercation erupted inside Jaipur Central Jail on Thursday. Two groups of inmates clashed violently, prompting immediate police action. Authorities registered cross FIRs following the incident. Senior jail officials rushed to the scene to assess the situation and control the unrest.

Cross Complaints Filed After Morning Roll Call

Lal Kothi SHO Prakash Ram Bishnoi confirmed the registration of two separate FIRs. The first complaint came from an undertrial inmate named Santosh. He alleged that convicted inmate Hari Shankar and his associates abused and attacked him during the morning roll call.

A second FIR was filed based on a complaint from convicted inmates. They claimed that undertrial prisoners, including Santosh and Rajesh, abused and attacked them first. The convicted inmates further stated that the undertrials refused to comply even when jail authorities intervened to stop the fight.

Verbal Argument Escalates Into Physical Fight

According to prison sources, the incident began as a verbal argument between undertrial and convicted prisoners. The disagreement quickly escalated into an alleged physical fight. Jail staff had to intervene forcefully to bring the situation under control.

Sources revealed that the clash occurred during routine prison activities. The altercation happened when attendance was being taken and inmates were assisting staff during daily exercise sessions. Senior jail officials conducted an internal inquiry after visiting the premises.

TOI attempted to contact DIG Prisons, Jaipur Range, Suman Maliwal for comments. She did not respond to inquiries about the incident.

History of Security Concerns at Jaipur Central Jail

This is not the first security-related incident reported from Jaipur Central Jail. The facility has faced multiple breaches and violations in recent times.

September Last Year Escape

In September last year, two inmates managed to escape from the jail. They scaled a boundary wall that was more than 20 feet high. The wall was topped with an electric fence. City police later traced and arrested both escapees.

May Last Year Incident

Another incident occurred in May last year. Inmates allegedly slipped out of jail on the pretext of needing medical treatment. Authorities later found them staying with their wives and girlfriends at local hotels.

Ongoing Security Lapses

The jail has witnessed multiple cases of mobile phones being smuggled inside recently. These incidents have raised repeated concerns about security lapses within the prison system. Police confirmed that investigation into the latest clash is currently underway.
