A fast-track special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act in Jind has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a minor. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on the convict.
Verdict Delivered by Additional Sessions Judge
The verdict was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge (Pocso Court) Sifa. According to the police spokesperson, the case was registered in April 2025 at Julana police station after the survivor's father filed a complaint alleging that his minor daughter was sexually assaulted by their neighbour.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and arrested the accused, identified as Prikshit alias Prince, a resident of Devrar. Based on the evidence and arguments presented by the prosecution, including Deputy District Attorney Yogendra Rathi, the court found the accused guilty.
Charges and Sentencing
The convict was sentenced under the Pocso Act and Sections 137(2) and 142 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The court ordered the fine to be paid as compensation to the victim.
