Judicial Officer Suicide Case Transferred to Crime Branch

The investigation into the alleged suicide of a 35-year-old judicial officer at his south Delhi residence has been transferred to the crime branch, a day after police registered a case in connection with his death.

FIR Registered Under Relevant Sections

An FIR has been lodged at Safdarjung Enclave police station under Sections 108 (abetment to suicide) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said the circumstances leading to the death are being examined.

Details of the Deceased

The deceased, Aman Sharma, was posted as secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North East district, at Karkardooma Courts. A 2018 graduate of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, he joined the Delhi Judicial Services in June 2021.

Incident Timeline

A relative alerted police around 1:45 pm on Saturday after Sharma locked himself inside the bathroom of his Green Park residence and did not respond. Emergency teams reached the spot and entered by breaking a bathroom windowpane. Sharma was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Ongoing Investigation

Police initiated inquest proceedings and recorded statements of family members and close associates. The post-mortem report is awaited. The case has now been transferred to the crime branch for further investigation.
