In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the local community, thieves executed a meticulously planned burglary at Shivam Jewellers in Koderma, making off with jewellery valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh. The audacious theft, which involved tunneling from an adjacent abandoned property, was discovered on Saturday morning, leaving the shop owner and authorities scrambling for answers.
Discovery of the Daring Burglary
The theft came to light when shop owner Ashok Kumar Bhadani returned from a trip to Jamshedpur and found his establishment at Jhanda Chowk, under the Tilaiya police station limits, completely ransacked. Bhadani, visibly distressed, recounted that the shop had been closed since Tuesday, providing the perpetrators with a window of opportunity to carry out their elaborate scheme.
"The miscreants broke into an adjacent abandoned shop and reached the showroom by creating a tunnel," Bhadani explained. "Nearly the entire inventory was cleared out, leaving us with significant losses." This method of entry highlights the calculated nature of the crime, suggesting the thieves had conducted prior reconnaissance of the area.
Police Launch Intensive Investigation
In response to the high-value theft, Koderma Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh has taken swift action. A special investigation team, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anil Kumar Singh, has been established to spearhead the probe. "Raids are under way at suspected hideouts," SP Singh stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Authorities have noted a critical lapse in security: the owner had not installed any CCTV cameras inside the shop. However, police are diligently scanning footage from surveillance systems in the neighbourhood to identify and apprehend the burglars. "We are leveraging all available technological resources to trace the culprits," added SP Singh, underscoring the challenges posed by the lack of internal monitoring.
