A coordinated effort between the police and alert residents led to the dramatic capture of three armed suspects attempting a burglary in Lucknow's LDA Colony in the early hours of Saturday. The sequence of events began around 2:40 am on Saturday when three men, riding a stolen motorcycle, entered Sector F of the LDA Colony. According to police reports, the suspects were checking multiple houses and even attempted to break the lock of one home whose occupants were fortunately not present. Their suspicious activity did not go unnoticed.
An observant resident immediately alerted the authorities by dialling the emergency helpline number 112. This prompt call set the stage for a swift and strategic response from the Lucknow Police.
A Coordinated Trap is Set
Instead of rushing in with sirens blaring, which could have alerted the criminals, the police opted for a smarter approach. Officers contacted the caller, gathered crucial details about the suspects' location and movements, and devised a plan to prevent their escape.
The residents were given discreet instructions to block possible escape routes within the colony. Simultaneously, a police patrol team began closing in from one end. The plan was to corner the suspects without them realizing they were walking into a trap.
Cornered and Captured by Locals
The strategy worked perfectly. As the police vehicle approached, the three suspects spotted it and panicked. In their attempt to flee from the police, they turned and ran straight into a group of waiting residents who had secured the other exit points. The locals, acting bravely, overpowered the armed men and held them until the police team arrived to take them into formal custody.
The accused were identified as Abhishek Singh from Motijheel Colony, Aishbagh, and Aman Yadav alias Satyam from E-Block, Rajajipuram. Police records revealed that Singh has eight criminal cases registered against him, while Yadav has a staggering ten cases in Lucknow alone. The third accused was identified as Shivam Yadav from Hardoi.
