Lucknow Woman Dies in Tragic Fire Escape Attempt
A routine Monday morning turned tragic in Lucknow when a woman died while trying to escape a massive fire in her flat. The incident occurred at Rohtas Enclave in Ravindra Palli.
Fire Breaks Out in Residential Flat
The blaze started in the morning hours. Police said a candle allegedly lit by the woman for a ritual accidentally fell on a carpet. This set the carpet on fire, which then engulfed the entire house.
However, the fire department stated they are still probing the exact cause. Officials mentioned the fire might have started due to a short circuit. The investigation continues to determine the precise origin.
Fatal Jump From Second Floor
The deceased, Nida Rizvi, was 45 years old. She was the wife of Ammar Rizvi, aged 50. Amid the chaos, Nida jumped from the terrace area of the second floor.
She sustained severe head injuries from the fall. Police, fire personnel, and local residents rushed her to a hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
ACP Anindaya Vikram Singh from Ghazipur Indiranagar confirmed these details. He provided the information about the incident and the victim.
Other Family Members Rescued
Fire department officials rescued the other three family members. Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal shared specific details about each person.
The woman's husband, Ammar Rizvi, managed to come out of the building. He suffered partial burn injuries and received medical treatment. Doctors stated he is in stable condition now.
Their daughter, Zara Rizvi, is 19 years old. Firefighters rescued her from the upper floor where she was trapped and surrounded by flames.
Their son, Joharav Rizvi, aged 18, escaped from the building on his own. He managed to get out safely without requiring rescue assistance.
Neighbor Recalls Harrowing Scene
A neighbor named Beena witnessed part of the incident. She heard Nida's son shouting about the fire and calling for his mother.
Beena ran to her balcony after hearing the cries. She saw Nida screaming for help from her terrace.
"I told her to move to the other side and go down the stairs," Beena recalled. Nida responded that there was too much smoke downstairs to use that route.
Nida then pleaded with a security guard to arrange a ladder. The guard and others responded to her request.
Meanwhile, the fire engulfed a wooden room built inside her house. The room caught fire completely and began to collapse. Along with the collapsing structure, Nida also fell down from the height.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Firefighters arrived at the scene and worked to control the blaze. They managed to rescue the trapped daughter and assist other family members.
The fire caused significant damage to the flat. The wooden room particularly suffered extensive destruction.
Local residents joined police and fire personnel in the rescue efforts. Their quick response helped save three lives despite the tragic loss of one.
Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the fire. They will determine whether it started from the candle or an electrical short circuit.
The community in Ravindra Palli remains shaken by the incident. Neighbors expressed shock at the sudden tragedy that unfolded on an ordinary Monday morning.
