New Delhi: A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter in outer Delhi, police said on Thursday, adding that the girl is five months pregnant.

According to police, a PCR call was received at the local police station on Wednesday about a minor girl being pregnant and blaming her stepfather for the same. The call was made by a known person after seeing the girl in emotional distress, a senior police officer said.
“Police rushed to the spot and female staff took the girl to a safe environment,” said DCP (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal. An inquiry was initiated, which revealed that her stepfather, who was residing with her, had allegedly been sexually assaulting her for a year. The girl was shifted to a hospital where doctors confirmed that she is around five months pregnant.
Legal Action
A case was registered and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were invoked. The accused was traced and nabbed.
