Police in Kolkata have arrested a man from Tamil Nadu for allegedly attacking his partner with a knife inside a guest house, leaving her severely injured. The violent incident, which caused profuse bleeding from the victim's shoulder, occurred in the central part of the city.

According to officials from the Muchipara Police Station, the assault was reported on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at around 4:15 PM. The attack took place at a guest house located at 159, BB Ganguly Street in Kolkata. The accused, identified as Pradeep Kumar Selvaraj (40), a resident of JV Nagar in Chennai, was staying with the victim in Room No. 412.
It is alleged that Selvaraj assaulted his 38-year-old girlfriend with a knife during an altercation. The attack resulted in a deep wound on her shoulder, leading to significant blood loss. The victim is a resident of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
Immediate Medical Response and Arrest
Following the assault, the injured woman was immediately rushed to the state-run NRS Hospital for emergency medical care. Hospital authorities confirmed she was admitted and is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.
