Gorakhpur Man's Drunken Rage Leads to Brutal Attack on Family
In a horrific case of domestic violence that has shocked Gorakhpur, a man is accused of assaulting his wife with a hot iron griddle, commonly known as a tawa, and seriously injuring their four-year-old son. The incident, stemming from an argument over a delay in cooking chapati, occurred in the Shastri Nagar Teliya Kuan area.
Details of the Shocking Assault
According to a police complaint filed by the victim, Radhika Sahani (30), the accused, her husband Lalchand Sahani, works as a driver in Lucknow. The complaint states that Lalchand frequently returns home in an inebriated state and resorts to violence. On the night of December 20, the situation escalated dangerously.
Lalchand reportedly reached home around 9 pm and demanded dinner. An argument erupted when Radhika could not prepare rotis quickly enough. Enraged, Lalchand entered the kitchen, grabbed the hot tawa, and began beating his wife mercilessly.
Hearing his mother's cries, the couple's young son ran into the room. In what police describe as a fit of uncontrollable rage, Lalchand allegedly turned the tawa on the child, striking him on the head and causing a severe injury.
Aftermath and Police Action
The injured child was immediately rushed to the district hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. After the attack, the accused allegedly threatened to kill Radhika before fleeing the spot.
Based on the woman's detailed complaint, officials at the Gorakhnath police station have registered a case and launched a manhunt. SHO Shashi Bhushan Rai confirmed that all efforts are underway to trace and arrest Lalchand Sahani at the earliest.
This incident has once again highlighted the severe issue of domestic abuse and violence within households, often triggered by trivial matters. It underscores the urgent need for community awareness and stronger support systems for victims.
