A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor in Sonbhadra. The accused has been identified as Bharat Lal, according to police officials.
Inspector Sadanand Rai of the Obra Police Station stated that a written complaint was received on Wednesday alleging that the accused had raped and threatened the 15-year-old girl in the past. Frightened by his threats, the girl did not inform her family about the incident until she became pregnant.
The family subsequently approached the police, who registered an FIR on Wednesday and arrested the accused the following morning. Legal action is being taken against the accused, and further investigation is currently underway.
Background of the Case
The incident came to light when the minor's family noticed her pregnancy and questioned her. She then revealed the repeated assaults by Bharat Lal, who had threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the abuse.
The police acted swiftly after receiving the complaint, registering a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities collecting evidence and recording statements from the victim and witnesses.
