Odisha Labourer Arrested in Hosur with 6.3 Kg Ganja from Karnataka Border
Man held with 6.3kg ganja in Krishnagiri's Hosur

In a significant drug bust, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) police in Krishnagiri district arrested a 25-year-old man from Odisha and seized a substantial quantity of ganja weighing 6.3 kilograms. The incident occurred on Monday in the Hosur area.

How the Arrest Unfolded

The police team was conducting a routine check at Jujuwadi in Hosur when their attention was drawn to a man walking from the direction of Attibele towards Hosur. The individual's behaviour immediately raised suspicion. On spotting the police officers, the man began to back away nervously, prompting the vigilant officials to intercept him.

Upon questioning and searching his bag, the officers discovered the large cache of contraband. The arrested individual was identified as Kadadhar Jana, a 25-year-old native of Odisha. Preliminary investigation revealed that Jana had been working as a labourer in a private factory in Hosur but had left for his hometown approximately two weeks prior to the incident.

The Long Route of Drug Transportation

The investigation shed light on the elaborate route used to transport the narcotics. According to police findings, Kadadhar Jana had brought the ganja by train from his home state of Odisha to Bengaluru. From the Karnataka capital, he then took a bus to reach the state border near Attibele.

His plan was to enter Tamil Nadu on foot from the Karnataka border, likely to avoid detection at major transport hubs. However, the alertness of the PEW personnel stationed in the area led to the interception of this smuggling attempt. The suspect was apprehended while he was walking from the border area towards Hosur town.

Legal Action and Ongoing Probe

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing has registered a formal case against Kadadhar Jana under relevant sections of the law. The seized 6.3 kg of ganja has been taken into evidence. Further investigation is currently underway to uncover potential links, including whether Jana was acting alone or as part of a larger network, and the intended destination of the seized drugs within Tamil Nadu.

This arrest highlights the continued vigilance of law enforcement agencies along interstate borders to curb the illegal drug trade. The PEW's operation in Krishnagiri district serves as a warning to those involved in the transportation of narcotics through the region.
