Mandsaur Police Uncover Major Illegal Liquor Consignment Hidden in Truck

In a significant crackdown on illicit liquor smuggling, the Mandsaur police have seized a massive consignment of illegal foreign liquor valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh. The operation took place in the Nahargarh police station area of the district, where authorities discovered 350 cartons of contraband liquor cleverly concealed beneath sacks of soy nuggets inside a truck.

Police Act on Tip-Off, Intercept Suspicious Vehicle

According to police officials, the Nahargarh police station received a crucial tip-off on Friday regarding a truck suspected of transporting illegal liquor. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, a dedicated police team led by Station In-Charge Varun Tiwari was dispatched to investigate.

The team reached a culvert near Fatehgarh village on the Rupni–Kachnara Road, where they found the truck parked under what were described as suspicious circumstances. ASP TS Baghel stated that the vehicle's location and behavior raised immediate red flags, prompting a thorough search.

Elaborate Concealment Method Exposed During Search

Upon searching the truck, officers made a startling discovery. The 350 cartons of foreign liquor were meticulously hidden under layers of sacks filled with soy nuggets, an attempt to evade detection during transportation. This elaborate concealment method highlights the sophisticated tactics employed by smugglers in the region.

Police seized the entire illicit consignment, along with the truck used for transportation. The estimated value of the seized liquor is around Rs 50 lakh, marking one of the significant hauls in recent operations against illegal alcohol trade in Mandsaur district.

Legal Action Initiated, Investigation Underway

A case has been formally registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, which pertains to violations related to the possession and transportation of illegal liquor. ASP Baghel confirmed that the legal proceedings are in motion, and the truck has been impounded as evidence.

Police are now intensively investigating the origin of the liquor consignment and its intended destination. Authorities are probing possible networks and individuals involved in this smuggling operation to uncover broader connections and prevent future incidents.

This seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by Mandsaur police to combat illegal activities and enforce excise laws in the region. The successful interception demonstrates the effectiveness of community tip-offs and proactive policing in disrupting smuggling networks.
