MDMA in Woman's Private Parts Leads to 308 gm Seizure, 7 Held

In a major drug bust in Kerala's Thrissur district, police seized 308 grams of MDMA after discovering two grams of the synthetic drug concealed in the private parts of a woman during a routine vehicle inspection. Seven individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure, which took place late on June 27, 2026.

Discovery During Routine Check

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when a police patrol team stopped a suspicious vehicle near the Puzhakkal area. Four occupants—two men and two women—were inside the car. Finding their behaviour suspicious, the police conducted a detailed search. During the search, officers recovered two grams of MDMA hidden in the private parts of one of the women.

Further interrogation led the police to a nearby hideout, where an additional 306 grams of MDMA was seized, along with cash and mobile phones. The total haul amounted to 308 grams of the contraband, with an estimated street value of several lakh rupees.

Seven Arrested, Investigation Underway

The police have arrested all seven individuals, including the two women and five men, who are believed to be part of a drug trafficking network operating in the region. They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. According to Thrissur City Police Commissioner R. Aditya, "The accused were attempting to transport the drugs from Kochi to Thrissur for distribution. We are investigating their links to larger syndicates."

The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody. Police are also examining the seized mobile phones to trace their contacts and uncover the supply chain.

Growing Concern Over Drug Trafficking in Kerala

This seizure highlights the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in Kerala, particularly synthetic drugs like MDMA, which are popular among youth in party circuits. In 2025, the Kerala Excise Department reported over 1,200 drug-related cases, with MDMA seizures increasing by 15% compared to the previous year. The concealment method—using body cavities—is a known tactic among traffickers to evade detection.

The Thrissur police have intensified vehicle checks and patrolling in response to the incident. Commissioner Aditya added, "We are committed to dismantling these networks and urge the public to report any suspicious activity."
