Meerut Police Crack Farmer Murder Case, Arrest Wife and Lover

Police in Meerut have cracked a shocking murder case. They arrested a woman and her lover for the brutal killing of her husband, a 50-year-old farmer.

The incident occurred in Bareilly on Saturday night. The victim, Sureshpal Singh, was beaten to death with a hammer while he slept.

The Gruesome Attack

Police revealed disturbing details of the crime. Mamta Devi, the victim's 30-year-old wife, held her husband down on a cot as he slept.

Her 26-year-old lover, Hotam Singh, then struck Sureshpal repeatedly on the head and face with a hammer. The weapon was found in the room itself.

The attack proved fatal instantly. Hotam fled the scene with the hammer while Mamta remained at the house.

A Three-Year Affair Turns Deadly

Senior police officer Anshika Verma explained the motive. Mamta and Hotam had been in an illicit relationship for three years.

Sureshpal discovered the affair recently. This led to frequent arguments between the married couple.

Confrontations with Hotam also became common. Sureshpal often assaulted Mamta, demanding she end the relationship.

"She conspired to eliminate him," stated SP Verma. The couple had been married for eleven years and had three children together.

Attempts to Mislead Investigators

Mamta tried to create an elaborate cover-up after the murder. She woke her eleven-year-old son Arjun, who was sleeping in another room.

She asked the boy to inform the village head. Mamta told villagers she panicked and could not call for help.

She also destroyed her phone's SIM card to erase call records. Mamta claimed she found her husband lying in a pool of blood when she woke to use the toilet.

Sirauli police station officer Vinod Singh described these deceptive actions.

Police Crack the Case

Investigators grew suspicious of Mamta's story. They examined call records and gathered other evidence.

During questioning, Mamta broke down and confessed to the crime. Police arrested her based on this confession and the evidence.

Officers then set up a stakeout at Shivpuri Tiraha on the Mirganj road. They arrested Hotam Singh there.

Hotam disclosed the location of the murder weapon. Police seized the blood-stained hammer used in the crime.

Legal Proceedings Begin

Authorities registered a First Information Report under BNS section 103 for murder. Both accused were produced before a court on Tuesday.

The court sent them to jail. The police investigation continues as they prepare the case for trial.

This tragic case highlights how personal conflicts can escalate into violent crime. It also demonstrates police diligence in solving complex homicide investigations.
