5 Minors Flee Homes in UP & Bihar After Parental Scolding, Found by Police
Minors flee homes after scolding, rescued by police in Varanasi

A series of concerning incidents across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar saw at least five children, aged between 13 and 14, run away from their homes following disputes with their parents. The police in Varanasi, Bhadohi, and Jaunpur were pressed into action, successfully locating and rescuing all the minors from railway stations and a shopping mall.

Teen Girl Rescued from Varanasi Shopping Mall

In Varanasi, the police received a critical alert about a 13-year-old girl from Bihar who had left her home and was spotted roaming alone inside the IP Mall in the Sigra area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off and using her photograph, a team led by Inspector Sanjay Mishra and including women constables rushed to the location.

Upon questioning, the girl revealed that she had decided to leave for Varanasi after becoming angry with her parents. The police safely brought her to the Sigra police station, contacted her family, and handed her over to them.

Mission Shakti Team Counsels Girl at Bhadohi Station

In a parallel case in Bhadohi, authorities found another girl, aged around 14, wandering at the local railway station. The police immediately intervened, and personnel from the Mission Shakti unit took her to their counselling centre.

During the counselling session, the girl admitted that she had left home because she was upset with her family. After the necessary procedures, the police informed her parents and ensured her safe return.

Four Boys Intercepted at Jaunpur Railway Station

The third incident unfolded in Jaunpur, where four boys—aged 13 and 14—went missing from Pali village. The matter came to light when Havaldar Gautam filed a complaint on January 9, stating that his grandson and three friends had left without informing anyone.

After registering a missing persons case, the police launched a search. Barsathi police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Pandey reported that the boys were eventually found at the Barsathi railway station on Saturday.

The boys explained that their families had scolded them for playing on a building's roof. Angered by the reprimand, they decided to run away, boarded a train to Jaunpur city, and were returning when the police intercepted them at Barsathi. They were subsequently handed over to their relieved families.

Underlying Issues and Police Response

These consecutive cases highlight a pattern of juvenile distress and impulsive reactions to domestic disagreements. The police response across districts was notably coordinated, involving alerts, swift ground action, and the use of specialized units like Mission Shakti for counselling.

The incidents serve as a stark reminder for families about the importance of communication with adolescents. The proactive work by the police in Varanasi, Bhadohi, and Jaunpur ensured that what could have been tragic situations ended with the safe reunion of children with their families.
