A Muslim rights outfit in Nahan has submitted a memorandum to the police, demanding action against an individual for allegedly posting derogatory remarks about the Quran on social media. Dozens of community members met Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi and handed over the memorandum.
Details of the Incident
According to Anjuman Islamia president Bobby Ahmed, he posted a message from the Quran on a social networking site on Thursday. Subsequently, one person wrote abusive remarks in the comments section. Ahmed expressed outrage over the incident and warned that if the responsible individual is not arrested immediately, the Muslim community would launch a major agitation.
Community's Demand
The memorandum urges the police to take swift legal action against the offender. The community has stressed the need for strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
