Nagpur: Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal chaired a coordination meeting on Thursday with senior officers from the State Excise Department and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to curb incidents involving spurious liquor and enhance inter-departmental cooperation in the city.
Formation of Joint Teams
Instructions were issued to establish joint teams for prompt action against illegal liquor production, transportation, and manufacturing units. Emphasis was placed on expediting investigations and securing convictions in liquor-related cases.
Meeting Attendees
The meeting, held at the Police Bhawan Conference Hall in Civil Lines, was attended by Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP Vasant Pardeshi, Joint Commissioner FDA Krishna Jaipurkar, Divisional Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Ganesh Patil, Superintendent (Excise) Surajkumar Ramod, Vaibhav Vaidya, and other senior police and excise officials.
Focus on Methanol-Mixed Alcohol
CP Singal directed the temporary suspension of licenses for erring liquor shops and beer bars, with particular focus on methanol-mixed alcohol. Strict preventive measures were advised against repeat offenders.
