The Jawali police, operating under the Nurpur police district in Himachal Pradesh, have successfully resolved the murder of a 45-year-old blacksmith within 24 hours. The accused, identified as Rashpal Singh (22), was arrested on Thursday afternoon. Singh is the nephew of the deceased, Subhash Chand, a resident of Mandol village in the Bahi-Pathiar gram panchayat.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the murder occurred on Wednesday while Subhash Chand was working at his workplace in Jawali. The accused allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp-edged sickle, causing fatal injuries that led to his death on the spot. The motive behind the killing remains under investigation, as stated by the authorities.

A police team from the Kotla police chowki responded promptly after receiving information about the incident. They secured the crime scene and took custody of the body. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit in Nurpur also visited the location to collect circumstantial evidence, which proved crucial in identifying the accused.

Legal Proceedings

Nurpur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dharam Singh Verma provided details on the case. He stated that initially, a murder case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against an unidentified person on Wednesday. Following the identification of Rashpal Singh, his name was added to the First Information Report (FIR).

“The police also recovered the sickle allegedly used in the crime. The accused will be produced before a court on Friday to seek his police remand for further investigation,” the ASP added.

The swift action by the Jawali police highlights their efficiency in cracking the case within a day. The recovered weapon and forensic evidence are expected to strengthen the prosecution's case. Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder, exploring possible personal or familial disputes.
