NIA Arrests Key Accused in Bhangar Bomb Blast Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested one of the prime accused in the Bhangar bomb blast case, which resulted in one death and three serious injuries in March this year. The accused has been identified as Ahidul Islam Molla, a resident of Bijoyganj Bazar in South 24 Parganas.

Court Appearance and Custody

On Monday, Ahidul was produced in court and subsequently taken into NIA custody. The arrest came shortly after a late-night order on Sunday from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, which announced that the investigation into the recovery of crude bombs from Bhangar on Saturday would be handed over to the NIA.

Political Allegations

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress candidate from Bhangar, Saokat Molla, alleged that he was attacked on Sunday night by alleged ISF-backed criminals while returning home after campaigning in the Chaltaberia area. "I was stopped by the vandals and attacked," he claimed.
