In a shocking case from Telangana, the Nizamabad police have arrested six individuals, including a woman, for the alleged murder of her husband and a subsequent attempt to disguise the crime as a natural death. The investigation unraveled a conspiracy involving infidelity, hired assailants, and a failed earlier attempt on the victim's life.
The Gruesome Crime and Initial Cover-Up
The victim, 35-year-old P Ramesh, was declared dead by his wife, P Soumya, on December 20 last year. Following this declaration, his body was swiftly buried. The incident might have been passed off as a tragic natural death if not for the suspicions of Ramesh's sister-in-law, Anusha. Disturbed by the circumstances, Anusha filed a formal complaint with the police. Her husband, who is employed in Israel, also joined in urging the authorities to investigate the death thoroughly.
Acting on the complaint, the police took the drastic step of exhuming Ramesh's body. A post-mortem examination was conducted, which provided conclusive evidence that Ramesh's death was a homicide, not a natural one. This finding turned the investigation into a murder probe, with Soumya immediately becoming a prime suspect.
Conspiracy Unraveled: Affair, Sleeping Pills, and Smothering
Upon being taken into custody and questioned, Soumya's story crumbled. Investigators learned that she had conspired with her paramour, identified as Dilip, to kill her husband. The motive stemmed from Ramesh having begun to suspect his wife's character and her extramarital relationship.
Police revealed the chilling modus operandi. "As per the plan, Soumya gave sleeping pills to Ramesh. When he was in a deep sleep, she called her paramour, Dilip. He, along with four other accused, then smothered him using a towel and pillow," stated the investigators. This cold-blooded execution was the culmination of a sinister plot.
A Failed Earlier Attempt and Arrests
Further probing uncovered that this was not the first attempt on Ramesh's life. The accused had earlier tried to kill him by staging a hit-and-run incident. A case was registered at the time for that incident, but Ramesh remained unaware that it was a deliberate attempt on his life as part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by his wife and her lover.
Police explained that Soumya decided to kill her husband and enlisted Dilip's help. Dilip, in turn, hired a few persons to carry out the murder, assuring them a payment of Rs 35,000. Of the seven accused involved in the case, the police have successfully arrested six. The arrested individuals are:
- P Soumya (wife)
- Dilip (paramour)
- E Abhishek
- B Jitender
- K Sriram
- Ramavath Rakesh
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to apprehend the remaining accused and solidify the case against all involved.
