Palakkad: Mannarkkad police in Palakkad have arrested five members of a quotation gang for allegedly assaulting a man and robbing his car, police said on Monday. The accused were arrested in connection with the theft of a car belonging to Abdul Nazer, a native of Chirakkalpadi in Mannarkkad.
Details of the Arrest
Those held have been identified as Avaran, Naufal, Afsal, Shafeeq and Kunjimuhammed. According to police, the incident took place around 12am on Thursday. Nazer was returning home with his family after watching a movie when the gang followed his car along the Mannarkkad–Kongad road.
Sequence of Events
At Parappuram, the assailants intercepted the vehicle, forced the family to get down, and assaulted Nazer before fleeing with the car. The victim later filed a complaint with the police.
Investigation Findings
Preliminary investigation revealed that the crime was linked to a financial dispute. Police said three more suspects are involved in the case and efforts are on to trace them.
