In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar commissionerate police have apprehended two close aides of infamous gangster Prabh Dasuwal. The arrests are connected to a series of violent shooting and extortion incidents that have rattled the region, including a high-profile attack on a showroom.
Key Accused Identified and Arrested
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar disclosed the details on Wednesday. The arrested individuals have been named as Gurpreet Singh, also known as Lal, and Jobanpreet Singh, alias Joban. Law enforcement officials have described both men as active shooters operating for the Prabh Dasuwal syndicate.
According to Commissioner Bhullar, the duo carried out brutal crimes under the direct orders of Dasuwal himself. Their primary objectives were to instill fear in the community and illegally extort money from their targets.
Violent Confrontation During Arrest
The arrest operation took a dangerous turn during a recovery mission linked to the investigation. Gurpreet Singh (Lal) allegedly opened fire at the police team in a desperate bid to escape custody. The police party, acting in self-defence, returned fire and injured the accused.
He was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment. From his possession, officials recovered a 30 bore pistol at the scene of the confrontation.
Confessions Reveal String of Crimes
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to their involvement in several firing incidents across Tarn Taran and its adjoining areas. The list of crimes they have admitted to includes:
- A firing at Zoog Studio Salon in Tarn Taran.
- An attack on the vehicle of a private school principal in Valtoha.
- A firing incident targeting an individual in village Seron.
- A shooting at a jeweller's shop in Tarn Taran.
Furthermore, investigators have successfully linked the Creative Wheels showroom firing in Amritsar to this same gang. This particular incident had spread widespread panic among the local trading community.
These arrests mark a crucial step by the Amritsar police in dismantling the operational network of the Prabh Dasuwal gang and bringing those responsible for a wave of violence to justice.
