Pune police on Saturday recreated the crime scene of the murder of real estate developer Avinash Agarwal at Lohagad Fort in the presence of the accused, Siya Goyal. The recreation aimed to verify the sequence of events as described by Goyal, particularly how and from where Agarwal was pushed off the fort.
Verification of Accused's Claims
According to a senior police official, the recreation was conducted to cross-check Goyal's statements regarding the incident. Goyal was brought to the fort early in the morning and taken to the exact location where Agarwal allegedly fell. Police teams recorded her movements and compared them with forensic evidence collected earlier.
The official stated, "We wanted to confirm the accuracy of her claims about the push and the spot from where the victim fell. The recreation will help us build a stronger case."
Details of the Case
Avinash Agarwal, a prominent realtor in Pune, was found dead at the base of Lohagad Fort on June 20, 2026. Initial investigations suggested a fall, but later evidence pointed to foul play. Siya Goyal, a close associate, was arrested on June 22 on charges of murder. Police have not disclosed the motive yet.
During the recreation, Goyal reportedly demonstrated the alleged altercation that led to the fall. Police have also seized her mobile phone and are analyzing call records and messages.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining multiple angles. A forensic team was present during the recreation to document the scene. The police are also questioning other individuals who were present at the fort on the day of the incident.
