In a shocking incident from Pune, a 17-year-old girl stands accused of orchestrating a robbery at her own family home. Her alleged motive was to gather money to help a friend pay pending house rent.
The Foiled Robbery Attempt in Kalyaninagar
The unusual case unfolded on January 5 at a bungalow in the upscale Kalyaninagar area. According to police, two young men entered the property with the intent to rob it. However, their plans were thwarted when the girl's aunt and other relatives present in the house raised an alarm, causing the intruders to flee.
The Yerawada police were alerted and promptly registered a case. The initial First Information Report (FIR) was filed against unknown persons under section 333 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with house trespass after preparation for hurt or wrongful restraint.
Police Investigation Unravels the Plot
Led by Senior Inspector Anjum Bagwan, the police team began their investigation by scrutinizing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene. The footage revealed not just the two alleged intruders, but a third individual as well.
The police successfully tracked down and took all three youths into custody. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement. More startlingly, they revealed the name of the 17-year-old girl who had allegedly planned the entire operation.
The Teenager's Confession and Motive
When questioned by the police, the teenage girl admitted to hatching the plot. Her stated reason was simple yet astonishing: she wanted to help one of her friends repay his pending house rent and saw robbing her own family's home as a solution.
"They admitted their involvement in the crime and revealed the name of the girl too," stated a police officer involved in the case. The officer further added, "Our investigations are on," indicating that probes into all aspects of the case are continuing.
This bizarre case highlights a severe lapse in judgment by a minor, leading to serious legal consequences. It also raises questions about the pressures and misguided loyalties that can drive young individuals to commit criminal acts, even against their own families.
