Rajasthan Police Opts for Out-of-State Training for New Constables
Rajasthan Police has made a significant decision to send some of its newly recruited constables outside the state for training. This move comes directly from the state's police leadership. They cite a clear reason: limited training capacity within Rajasthan itself.
Addressing the Infrastructure Shortfall
The decision follows the recent constable recruitment examination. This process selected nearly 9,000 candidates for positions. However, a major challenge emerged. Police training infrastructure across Rajasthan can only handle about 6,000 trainees at any given time.
This capacity includes various police training centres and major academies like the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) in Jaipur. Training the entire new batch simultaneously within the state simply is not possible with current facilities.
Official Announcement and Plan Details
Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma confirmed the plan. He stated that specific batches of constables will receive deputation for training in other states. Madhya Pradesh is the preferred destination for this initiative.
Additionally, some recruits may train with central armed police forces. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is one such force mentioned for this purpose.
"This is a positive step to offer a fresh learning experience for our cadets," Sharma explained. "They will follow the Rajasthan training module but also gain valuable exposure to how other states and central forces operate."
He emphasized that the move will benefit Rajasthan Police in the long run. Recruits will return with a broader operational perspective and firsthand experience of different working environments.
Avoiding Delays and Historical Precedent
Officials highlighted the practical problem they faced. The alternative to sending recruits out was straightforward but problematic. They would have to ask a large section of new constables to wait for their training turn.
This waiting period would delay training for nearly half of the newly selected batch. Staggering the training schedules is now the chosen method to ensure the timely induction of all 9,000 recruits.
This is not an entirely new practice for Rajasthan. Officials noted that the state has sent small batches of constables outside for training in the past. The current scale of the operation, however, is much larger due to the record recruitment numbers.
Formal Process and Recent Context
The exact number of constables to be sent outside Rajasthan will be finalized soon. This decision will come after candidates who have received their appointment letters formally report for duty and training.
The recruitment drive gained national attention recently. Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the newly selected constables on January 10. This ceremony took place at the Rajasthan Police Academy in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan Police's decision underscores a practical approach to manpower development. By utilizing external training resources, they aim to build a more versatile and experienced police force for the state.
