Former Live-In Partner and Friend Brutally Murder 25-Year-Old Man in Rajkot

Police in Rajkot have arrested two individuals for the brutal murder of a 25-year-old man. The incident occurred in the Meghaninagar area of the city on January 14.

Victim and Accused Identified

The victim, Savan Goswami, suffered fatal stab wounds. Authorities identified the prime accused as Varsha Gadhvi, aged 45, and her friend Darshan Chauhan, aged 22. Varsha had previously been in a live-in relationship with Savan.

Details of the Attack

According to police reports, Varsha and Darshan attacked Savan with a sharp weapon. They stabbed him approximately 16 times in various parts of his body. The wounds targeted his abdomen, chest, sides, waist, arms, and head. This vicious assault led to Savan's immediate death at the scene.

Background of the Relationship

Savan's father, Ramnikpari, filed a complaint at the Bhaktinagar police station. He stated that his son and Varsha lived together as husband and wife without formal marriage. However, they separated about four months ago due to ongoing differences.

The complaint further revealed a history of conflict. Savan had allegedly stabbed Varsha in the past and harassed her repeatedly. This harassment continued even after their separation, fueling Varsha's resentment.

Motivation and Planning

Investigating officer M M Sarvaiya provided insights into the motive. Varsha started living with Darshan after leaving Savan. About one and a half months ago, Savan allegedly stabbed Varsha again. Varsha claimed that Savan's frequent harassment pushed her to plan his murder.

She even informed Savan's father about the harassment over phone calls. Additionally, Darshan called Savan's father and threatened to kill Savan if the harassment did not stop.

Execution of the Crime

On January 14, Varsha called Savan and asked him to meet her. When Savan arrived at the designated spot, both Varsha and Darshan attacked him. They repeatedly stabbed him, resulting in his tragic death.

Criminal Records of the Accused

Deputy Commissioner of Police Hetal Patel shared details about the accused's past. Varsha has three previous cases registered against her in Rajkot city and rural areas. All these cases fall under the Prohibition Act.

Darshan has a more extensive criminal record. Police have registered cases against him in six different police stations across Rajkot city. These include offences under prohibition laws and charges of criminal conspiracy.

Police Action and Investigation

Following the murder, police swiftly arrested both Varsha and Darshan. The investigation continues to uncover further details about the case. Authorities are examining all evidence to ensure justice for the victim.

This shocking incident highlights the dangers of unresolved personal conflicts. It also underscores the importance of legal intervention in cases of harassment and violence.
