A fire erupted at a restaurant on the second floor of a building in HSVP Sector 3 Market in Rohtak on Sunday, marking the third fire incident in the area within two weeks. The blaze spread rapidly, triggering explosions of gas cylinders stored inside the restaurant, which caused panic among locals. Teams from the Fire Department, police, and Municipal Corporation responded promptly, deploying multiple fire tenders to control the flames. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and the fire was contained before it could spread to adjacent buildings.
Firefighting and Response
Rohtak Municipal Commissioner Narendra Kumar arrived at the scene to oversee firefighting and rescue operations. The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Shopkeepers credited the Fire Department's timely action for averting a major disaster. The incident occurred in the afternoon when smoke was first noticed emanating from the upper portion of the restaurant. Within minutes, the fire engulfed the premises, and gas cylinder explosions heightened the danger.
Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitness Jitender, who first spotted the smoke, said he immediately alerted others and urged people to evacuate without trying to save belongings. He reported that three gas cylinders exploded in quick succession, intensifying the fire. The building owner, upon learning of the incident, rushed to the site and found the restaurant fully ablaze.
Previous Fire Incidents
This fire comes less than two weeks after a devastating blaze at D-Park Market on June 9, which killed three people and destroyed over ten shops. The recurring fires have raised concerns about fire safety in Rohtak's commercial areas. Authorities are investigating the latest incident, while residents call for stricter enforcement of safety norms.
