Ropar Police Summons Former AAP MLA in Trafficking Probe

The Ropar police's special investigation team (SIT) has summoned former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amarjeet Singh Sandoya for questioning in connection with an alleged immoral trafficking case registered in February. Senior police officials clarified that Sandoya is not named as an accused in the FIR.

Details of the Summons

Ropar SSP Maninder Singh stated that Sandoya was called solely for questioning and to verify certain inputs received during the ongoing investigation. The case dates back to February 17, when authorities allegedly busted an immoral trafficking racket operating out of a local hotel, leading to a case registration at the Anandpur Sahib police station.

According to the notice issued by the Ropar DSP, Sandoya must appear at the DSP office at 11 am on June 22 to record his statement. The Ropar Sadar station house officer (SHO) was tasked with delivering the summons, while the Anandpur Sahib SHO was instructed to present the complete case file before the SIT on the same day.

Sandoya's Response

Sandoya, who stated that he left AAP years ago and has not joined any other political party, denied any involvement and described the summons as a well-planned political conspiracy to tarnish his public image. He claimed he had no connection to the hotel in Anandpur Sahib and had never even seen the property.

Sandoya alleged that a current in-power party's MLA from the district was pressuring the police to drag his name into the controversy as retaliation because he had been raising his voice against alleged corruption, blackmailing, and hooliganism in the Ropar district. However, Sandoya confirmed he would cooperate with the investigation and appear before the SIT as directed.
