Shahdara Double Murder: CCTV Shows Masked Suspect, Electronic Lock Opened With Key
Shahdara Elderly Couple Murder: CCTV Footage Recovered

Police in Delhi are investigating the brutal double murder of an elderly couple in the Shahdara area, with newly recovered CCTV footage providing a crucial lead. The footage appears to show a suspect with a covered face moving towards the victims' residence around the time of the crime.

CCTV Footage and Locked Gate Mystery

Investigators revealed that the residence of Virender Kumar Bansal (75) and his wife Parvesh Bansal (65) was secured with an electronic lock. In a puzzling detail, the assailant reportedly used a key to open this lock, gaining entry to the house. After committing the crime, the individual is believed to have locked the gate from outside using the same key. This has led police to question local key makers as part of their probe.

The suspect was first captured on surveillance cameras at approximately 6 pm last Saturday near the Bansals' home. His movements were recorded again in the same vicinity later that evening, around 8:20 pm. The interior of the house was largely undisturbed, with household items found in their usual places, adding to the mystery.

Multiple Angles Under Investigation

Authorities are exploring several possible motives for the heinous crime. The family reported that the elderly woman's jewellery was missing, pointing to a potential robbery. However, police are also examining whether the theft was staged to mislead the investigation and divert attention from the real motive.

Sources indicate that Virender Kumar Bansal used to lend money to people at an interest, prompting investigators to look closely at possible monetary disputes. The possibility of a contract killing and the involvement of multiple individuals is also being seriously considered.

Son Discovers Tragic Scene, Neighbors Unaware

The couple's son, Vaibhav Bansal, returned home late on Sunday night to find his parents unconscious and injured in separate rooms. He immediately informed the police. The police control room received the PCR call about the crime at 12:30 am. The couple was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

A chilling detail noted by police was that the couple's television was switched on at the time of the murder. Investigators are examining whether the sound from the TV masked any unusual noises, which could explain why neighbors did not sense anything amiss. Police have spoken to residents of nearby houses to determine if anyone witnessed unusual activity.
