Sikh Community Takes Action Against Alleged Grooming in London
On Sunday night, a tense scene unfolded in Hounslow, London. Approximately 200 Sikh men and women surrounded a council flat. They voiced serious allegations against a 34-year-old Afghan man residing there. The protesters claimed he was grooming a 16-year-old Sikh girl.
Parents Seek Help from Gurdwara
The girl's parents had approached a gurdwara in Slough, desperately seeking assistance. They were deeply worried about their daughter. She had left home to live with the man. According to the protesters, the girl had been meeting him since she was 14 or 15 years old. They asserted she had been groomed during this period.
Confrontation Captured on Video
A video shared on Instagram shows a Sikh man confronting the Afghan individual on the stairs. The accuser labeled him a paedophile. He shouted, "You brainwashed and manipulated her. This isn't Afghanistan, this is England. Why can't you find someone of your own age?" The protester further accused the man of keeping the girl in his flat from early morning until late evening with several other men present.
The Afghan man responded to these allegations. He stated he was in love with the girl. He also claimed he did not know her actual age.
Neighbor Reports Longstanding Concerns
A neighbor living nearby shared disturbing observations. She reported seeing many underage girls entering the Afghan man's flat over the past nine years. This neighbor said she had informed the police on numerous occasions about her concerns. "There are about four guys in there," she remarked. "It's disgusting." The flat itself has a history of police raids for drugs. It is located close to a local school.
Community Outcry and Police Response
The Sikh protesters stood outside the property, chanting "Pedos out." One individual expressed frustration, shouting, "The parents have gone to the police many times and nothing is being done. Why is this happening in the UK 2026? The police are turning a blind eye."
In another video, Jaspal Singh from the group Shere Panjab is seen banging on the man's door. A crowd of Sikh men behind him yelled "paedophile" and "pervert." The situation escalated until police were called to the scene.
Officers eventually arrived and took the Afghan man away in a police van. The teenage girl returned to her family, who were participating in the demonstration.
Community Leaders Express Disappointment
Jaspal Singh later commented on the incident. He questioned, "Why is it that Sikhs had to put a stop to this when police couldn't? This is disgraceful. We are doing the police's job. The Sikh community has been dealing with this for many years and we have had enough."
In response to this case and broader concerns, Sikh Youth UK has initiated a national inquiry. This investigation will focus on Sikh victims of grooming gangs across the country.
The Metropolitan Police had not responded to media queries at the time of reporting.
