Software Engineer Found Dead in Lucknow Room

A 25-year-old woman software engineer was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Bijnor on Lucknow's outskirts.

Victim's Background

The deceased, Vaishnavi Yadav of Ayodhya, had been living in the city for the past four years while pursuing her engineering studies. Police said she was also working part-time as a software engineer with a private firm on a work-from-home basis.

Incident Details

According to police, the incident came to light on Monday afternoon when her neighbour, identified as Udit, who lived in an adjacent room, tried to contact her multiple times but received no response. Growing suspicious, he went to her room and found the door locked from inside. After repeated calls went unanswered, he forced the door open.

Inside, Vaishnavi was found hanging from a ceiling hook using a dupatta. She was brought down immediately, and police were informed. A team reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. No suicide note was recovered from the room.

Family's Allegations

The victim's father raised doubts about the circumstances of death. He claimed that when he reached the spot, the room door was open and the latch was intact, and his daughter's body was found lying on the floor.

"The ceiling fan is installed at a considerable height. Even with a chair, it would be difficult to tie a dupatta to it. I suspect my daughter has been murdered," he alleged.

Police have registered a case and are investigating all angles. The post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.
