Student Assaulted Over Phone Dispute, Six Booked

A 19-year-old college student in Bengaluru was assaulted during a late-night gathering after she objected to a male guest accessing her mobile phone without permission. The incident occurred on June 12 at her rented accommodation, leading to a police complaint against six individuals.

Party Turns Violent Over Phone Access

The victim, a second-year BBA student at a private college, had been staying at her rented house with a roommate. On the night of June 12, her roommate hosted a party where alcohol was consumed. The victim did not drink and was eating dinner separately when the trouble began around 12:30 AM.

According to her complaint, a man named Kishore took her mobile phone and started browsing her personal WhatsApp chats. When she objected and demanded the phone back, a heated argument broke out. Kishore allegedly claimed to possess her personal videos and private chats. As she tried to retrieve her phone and shouted at him, he grabbed her head, slammed it against a wall, and punched her in the face.

Group Assault and Threats

The victim alleged that the other five men present joined in the assault. They pulled her clothes, dragged her, and subjected her to verbal abuse. They also threatened her with severe consequences if she reported the incident to anyone. Fearing for her safety, she contacted the emergency helpline 112, prompting the accused to flee the premises.

She received medical treatment at a government hospital and filed a formal complaint on June 15. The Byadarahalli police have registered a case against the six accused, including Kishore, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
