A 21-year-old female student of a private university died by suicide in her rented accommodation in Mohali on June 25, 2026. The deceased, identified as Kareena, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room at New Aman City in Ranjit Nagar, Kharar.
Roommate alerted family
According to the police, Kareena’s roommate discovered the body and immediately informed her family. The roommate called Kareena’s relatives, who then contacted the authorities. Police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to the mortuary at Kharar Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.
Suicide note recovered
During the investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the room. In the note, Kareena stated that she was taking the step of her own free will and blamed no one for her action. The note did not mention any specific reason for the suicide.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident. No further details have been released.
