The Lokayukta police in Karnataka have arrested a surveyor on charges of accepting a bribe. The accused, identified as a surveyor attached to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.
Details of the Incident
The complainant had approached the surveyor to get a land survey sketch approved. The surveyor allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing the document. Following a complaint, the Lokayukta police laid a trap and apprehended the surveyor while he was accepting the money.
Legal Action
The accused has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was produced before a special court and remanded to judicial custody. The Lokayukta police are further investigating the matter to ascertain if there are any other beneficiaries involved in the corrupt practice.
